Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest but for Coloradans it means spending the day on Colorado’s playground. And that’s exactly what we did today. We woke up early, drove up to Keystone and played on the mountains. I haven’t had a chance to ride much yet this season but today was simply a reminder that I need to take advantage of every weekend and spend it on the slopes.
I know these photos look chilly but it was actually a perfect day. The weather was about 23 degrees (which is decent) and there wasn’t much wind. The slopes weren’t too crowded and there was soft snow coming down all day. But I think what I love most about the mountains is simply being able to escape from the busy Denver life. Escaping to a winter wonderland. Literally. The mountains are only an hour and a half away from the city but it feels like you’re in another world.
I want every Sunday to be spent like this. Escaping with friends, exploring the mountains, riding in soft snow, drinking cocoa, and having snowball fights. And did I mention snowboarding is a good workout??? I shall have buns of steel by the end of the season! Today was a very good day. Colorado’s leisure has spoiled me again.
