4th of July in sunny California. That’s where I’ve been for the past couple of days. The main reason for the trip was to celebrate my grandma’s 101st birthday (yeah, 101!!!). She is the foundation of four generations and the way for our entire family to get together every summer. She is pretty incredible. And sadly I can’t show her off because I failed to take any pictures during her birthday. Yes, I am a horrible granddaughter. BUT believe me when I say that she is relentless, untiring, always laughing, and always loving. I promise I’ll dedicate another post for her next birthday and I’ll show you how wonderful she is.

Before her birthday, we spent a couple of days in Santa Monica. I’ve been to California many times but I’ve never really spent time in Santa Monica. It’s a nice little beach-town. We were tucked right in between the beach, Santa Monica pier, the promenade, and endless restaurants and shops. I know my lack of picture-taking was quite disappointing, but I thought I would at least share what I did capture. Empty beach, early morning surfers, seashell finds, and views from under the pier. A little glimpse of my California getaway.

It’s always a treat to travel for family. Seeing my grandma make it to 101 was a perfect way for us to spend the Holiday weekend together. Stay tuned for when she turns 102. Cheers.
