I told my friend the other day about the “changing of the leaves”. The best way that I could explain it was “the mountains look like they are glowing with specs of gold”. But it’s hard to imagine unless you see it for yourself. My friend and I both had the day off from work and we decided to make a day trip out of it. We packed a picnic, bought some rolls of film, put the dogs in the backseat, and headed West.
I needed a day like this. I kept telling my friend, “I really needed this”. We talked about how people tend to get so caught up in work, technology, stress, worrying about the future, etc. and often forget to take a step back and just be. I’ll admit, I’ve been doing that for the past month or so [hence my lack of posts, yet again]. I constantly find myself thinking of creative ideas, future travels, photography inspiration, or cooking recipes. My mind is constantly wandering but my body tends to sit still. I need to stop that.
We spent the day in one of my favorite mountain towns. We did not check our phones, we did not think about work, and we were in no rush to get back to the city. We were on a golden getaway and perfectly content. We even planned a future getaway [longboards required]. Stay tuned for dat!
