3rd stop: Falmouth, Jamaica

This was the final stop – Falmouth, Jamaica. Yaaa man! This day was a relaxing one, we didn’t have any set plans or itinerary for the time we were there. The one thing we actually wanted to do was go jet skiing, but we found out that it’s illegal in Jamaica. Too many accidents I guess… We ended up getting on a bus, drove along the coast, spent way too much money at a souvenir shop [with 13.5% tax, ouch!] and rode into Montego Bay.

The afternoon was spent lounging in beach chairs, ordering beer and local food like pool-side service, swimming with the GoPro and sun soaking in between. I love being that kind of lazy. Pure vacation lazy. I was perfectly content listening to music, people-watching, taking pictures and thinking about where I want to travel next. Knowing that your time is limited in a foreign place is the best motivator to make the most of your time there. I actually started making a rule for myself – always have a future trip planned so that you have something to look forward to. Can we just skip to the part of my life where I travel the world?

Loving and lazing in the Caribbean. And Costa Rica bound in 2 weeks! Ciaooo!

the last days

I’m going to keep this short and sweet. I like riding towards the end of the season. I know the snow ain’t so great, but it’s warmer and less crowded. And those are my two components for a great day. As long as you know where to find the spots with some decent powder, it’ll be a good time. In a couple of weeks Colorado’s winter playground will be closed for the season and I need to make up for my lack of snowboarding this year. Ooh, the pressure... This is the time where the slopes become a bit scarce, which is the perfect time for me…in my opinion. For me, I love the last days.

riding into the new year

Happy 2013, everyone! I hope you all had a festive New Years Eve surrounded by friends, family, and warm memories of 2012. When I thought about how I wanted to bring in the new year, I simply wanted to be outside, doing something I love, and with good company. So naturally, we decided to spend the first day of our new year at Beaver Creek, Colorado; we woke up early (despite our late night celebrating) and headed for the slopes.

I also got to bring in the new year with a new gadget; my new GoPro Hero3. It was the perfect day to experiment with my new camera. The sun was shining, the snow was sparkling and fresh, and the best part was that there were very few riders on the mountain today! It almost felt as if we had the entire peak to ourselves. It was quite magical and indulging to completely explore the terrain with hardly anyone in sight. It was like the mountain was reserved for us. I don’t think I’ve ever ridden in conditions like this before. Happy New Year to ME!

The day was filled with immediate chair-lift access, free riding, glistening snow, and exploring along-side my man. What a special and spoiling way to start my new year. I think this means that there are more incredible days to come in 2013. So far, so good! Riding into the new year…I can’t wait to see what other exciting things 2013 has in store for me.
