old and new

Floral Maxi Skirt | Pink’s Denver
Strappy Block Heels | Franco Sarto
Nude Bodysuit | H&M
Suede Moto Jacket | BNCI by Blanc Noir
Amelia Sling Purse | Be&D
Sunglasses | Urban Outfitters

I specifically planned this look for the farmer’s market at the Ferry Building this past weekend. It’s common for us fashionistas to coordinate our outfit based on where we’re going, but this look was randomly thrown together and then saved for Saturday morning. A mix of old & new, I picked up the Pink’s maxi skirt and Franco Sarto block heels right before the trip; the moto jacket, sunglasses, and Amelia sling have been living in my closet for a while. I sat on the floor in my bedroom with a glass of wine and threw it together, simply inspired by what I would want to wear at the farmer’s market. And here it is. Ta-Da!

Remember ‘big bertha’? My trusty steed? My beloved longboard? Well, she got a makeover. She needed one baaaaad. I’ve been riding her for nearly 6 years and she deserved a new look. My mister and I turned it into a Home Depot DIY project one day. We ripped off the old grip tape, sanded it down, spray painted the deck, and applied a homemade grip [polyurethane + sand…it’s magical]. I honestly can’t remember how big bertha looked before, but I like her much better now. She’s a trendy lil’ thang and I wanted to show her off a bit.

I spent some of the afternoon riding outside of downtown. I found a quiet road for some peaceful roaming, completely free of cars and city chaos. Mindless riding is one of my favorite things to do. I find it extremely therapeutic to just pedal up and down, carve the streets, and feel the pavement sliding underneath you. I know big bertha is getting a bit old and rusty but she still rides beautifully. This board is going to be one of those things that I will hold onto for the rest of my life. We have traveled together to Hawaii, Colorado, Seattle, New York, and will soon be embarking a Mid West road trip [more on that later…]. She’s definitely one of my favorite travel accessories.

Lovin’ me a little Spring shredding with the new bertha.

You know what is such a beautiful thing? Spring. Ah, I love it. I love knowing that the sun will only get warmer, I love knowing that I can start driving with the windows down, I love knowing that there will be rainy nights, and I love knowing that I’ll start to finally get a damn tan. Now don’t get me wrong, I love winter too [kind of] but Spring is my thing. I am just thrilled to wear breezy clothes and feel the sun browning my skin.

It’s the first day of Spring and it actually feels like Spring today. For Colorado, March and April are typically our snowiest months [our seasons are a bit unpredictable] but today’s warm-up is spot on. I really hope it stays this way but I wouldn’t be surprised if it snowed next week. Colorado will just do that kind of thing… Colorado has tourettes.

BUT I am going enjoy the warmth as long as it will last. I will take evening walks, start wearing flip flops, eat outside, sleep with the windows open, or maybe even sleep on my balcony [which I’ve actually done…it’s quite pleasant. It’s like camping.]

Hello, spring. It’s nice to have you back.
