[jumper: Swell]

I’ve been a little obsessed with jumpers and rompers lately. They’re effortless, minimal, and a speedy outfit choice without having to overthink anything. [There’s a catch though… Going to the bathroom sucks] I’ve got 8-9 pieces in my closet right now and I’m slowly collecting more. I scored this Tavik romper ON SALE and basically spent the entire weekend living in it. The romper was the perfect outfit for a Saturday backyard party, and then transitioned to a night downtown with some pointed flats and a leather jacket. I would have slept in it. I almost wore it to Sunday brunch the next day but I thought it would be a bit “much”. No one likes an outfit repeater. Which only means more rompers!

[lookbook via Spell & The Gypsy]

I am not ready for winter to end, but I am ready for summer. The mild winter we had this year was only a teaser. My snowboard is hung up for the season and I’m ready for June. [Colorado has tourette’s. April and May are known for their occasional blizzards, so I can’t get my hopes up until June.] I saw Spell & The Gypsy’s ‘Ocean Muse’ lookbook and it got me even more riled up for summer. I’m already trying to pull off the half bun and slowly getting my tan back. I’m filling my closet with new summer finds and plotting trips to warmer climates. I. Am. Over. Winter.

Now I just have to wait for my June. Can’t come soon enough!

My life has been in a whirlwind the past couple of months [hence my horrible lack of blogging, yet again]. In my defense though, a lot has happened lately. I moved into a new house, I watched one of my best friends get married, I spend a girls-weekend in the mountains, I’ve been working nearly 6 days/week, I had a Midwest road trip, and I spent a lot of time on my newly furnished patio which I am quite obsessed with. Looking back, it’s all gone by in a flash.

And speaking of flash, I finally had some downtime to go through some photos on my Nikon camera. This is what I found. Some quick snapshots and memories of the past few weeks. It was a pleasant visual reminder that there were a lot of great moments in the middle of the summer chaos. I think I needed that.

Now I’ll be getting ready for Wanderlust in Aspen. Yoga + mountains. Stay tuned!

rested and restless

I think the world takes a breath on Sundays. The day of rest. My favorite day of the week. It’s my time to sleep in, drink coffee without rushing to work, maybe grab brunch, and spend the day with no plans. I think that’s what I like most about it – no plans. I intentionally keep my Sundays open so I can enjoy asking myself, “what should I do today?”. Today was easy to answer. It was 91 degrees outside and I wanted to longboard. I was rested and restless.

I feel that I’ve been very attached to my longboard lately. Maybe it’s because it’s getting warmer outside. Or maybe it’s because I’m still fascinated by big bertha’s makeover. Or…maybe it’s because I can feel my car self-destructing and I need to reinforce my next transportation mode. [I was actually in the best shape of my life when big bertha was my ‘car’…might not be a bad thing if my car breaks down] I’m also working on a project that involves girls + longboarding. More on that later though. I haven’t really thought of it enough to start talking about it yet.

Enjoying my rested and restless Sunday.

lake of leisure

I have a fortress of solitude. Well, I have a couple actually. But one of them is Lake McIntosh. A welcoming, uninhabited lake that is perfect for stand-up paddling. It always offers glistening water [don’t mind the greenish color…that’s my GoPro being artistic], perfect weather conditions, and open paddling with no one else in sight. To me, this is the ultimate way to spend a girl’s day. We both share a mutual love for the water and we spent the entire afternoon paddling, playing, swimming, and soaking up the last of the summer sun. The water was perfectly still and we were perfectly content spending the entire day outside [until we started to feel the effects of dehydration and had to search desperately for a nearby water fountain because we packed everything BUT water…oops.]

I think I could spend almost every day like this. I’m quite at my leisure on this lake.
